Our story

A cultural house with a story.

Sita opened in 2012 in a blue colonial villa in the French quarter of Pondicherry, so that visitors and locals could meet the many sides of Indian arts and a true French cultural house.

In 2014 we ran the first guided cycle tours in Pondicherry. In 2020 the pandemic closed the doors and tested us hard, but we held on. Today the same house is still here, with the same dedication, keeping its traditions alive through practice.

Ask a question
What is Sita Cultural Center?

Sita is a cultural house in the French quarter of Pondicherry, open since 2012. We offer guided cycle tours, hands-on cooking classes and workshops in kolam, mehendi, saree wearing, crafts, dance and yoga.

What is the best first experience in Pondicherry?

Our Wake-up Pondy Cycle Tour: a two-hour guided ride every morning from 7 to 9 am through the French quarter, the Indian town, Goubert market, the Ashram quarter and the fishing village.

Where are you and when are you open?

Sita is at 22 Candappa Moudaliar Street, Pondicherry 605001. Our front office is open Monday to Saturday, 9 AM to 7 PM. The cycle tour starts at 7 am every day, and the cycle rental opens at 7:30 am every day, when our team opens the door just for those two services.

Which languages do you teach in?

Our guides and teachers speak English, French and Tamil.

Can I come with children?

Yes. On the cycle tour, children from 8 years ride their own kids’ cycle and children under 5 travel on a baby seat. Many workshops welcome children too; ask us for the details of each one.

Can you organise a private or group session?

Yes. We create custom tours and tailor-made workshops for groups, families and teams. Send us your dates and numbers on WhatsApp and we will reply with a proposal.
